Expect that some rehearsals actors will be very busy and some rehearsals they will spend learning and watching others. That is the nature of a scripted show rehearsal process.
All actors, regardless of age/role, will be expected to practice their lyrics and choreography at home between rehearsals so they are prepared to learn new material having already mastered the current material.
Rehearsals will begin for the ensemble in late February on Mondays 7pm and some Fridays 6:30PM for Ensemble and leading Characters. In May we will add additional rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays for specific groups as needed. Rehearsals are a few times a week until 2 weeks before the show. Black Out Dates are July 6th-14th and July 18th-21st, and no one is permitted to miss rehearsals/performances. Missing tech/dress/performances can result in removal from the show.
Specific costume/hair and makeup requirements will be presented as we get closer to the performances. Many female actors may wish to purchase a wig. Hair and Makeup Styles will be based on late 1920's-1930's film stars for both males and females.
Performances will be at Winthrop's Johnson Hall, July 12th-14th, and July 19th and 20th. 6 Performances currently. If we sell out ahead of time we have the option to add additional performances on those weekends. Currently, we will have no performances on Sunday the 21st and will reserve that day for set strike and a cast party.
Showtime Theatre Company's production team is all volunteer, and as such, they require a lot of assistance to create the caliber of production value we are known for. We require that all families of our participating training academy students, contribute a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer time, with at least 4 hours of that in load in and 2 hours at load out. For those who cannot make that commitment, there is an option to make a donation of $100 in lieu of volunteer hours so we can hire someone to replace you.
Cast Party is currently scheduled for July 21st after Strike. More details to follow.
Ours will be very similar
